Arrival: How do we arrive at meditation. Do we come ready and prepared to enter our quiet place, or do we come with expectations, and desires. Do we arrive expecting answers and results, expecting to gain something without the understanding of how we will be asked to give in to it. Do we show up with misplaced intentions, wanting to give everything and push ambitiously in to the moment in hopes that we will earn our rewards for our process. Does this level of expectation enhance our entitlement making us overly expectant. Is that the best way to serve ourselves and those around us. Are we arriving with an end already in mind, and does that desire for our goals shroud our ability to listen to the present, to understand our surrounding, and learn to grow in union with them.
I know I do, and if this is how I arrive at meditation, how can I expect myself to arrive anywhere else and be calm and present and ready. Today, let us try to reflect on arriving calmly and peacefully so we can embrace the constant sea of change that is around us.
